Hip Carry

Suitable for children from 4 months onwards, this is a very natural way to carry a child - this position is comfortable and allows your baby to see what is going on, whilst having the reassurance that you are holding him close.

  1. IllustrationStart by tying the waist straps around your waist, but with the sling hanging down your side.
  2. IllustrationHold baby on your hip and bring the body of the sling up behind his back.
  3. Put one shoulder strap across your front and over the opposite shoulder, and the other strap across your back and over the same shoulder as the first strap, so they cross.
  4. IllustrationBring the straps down across your body wrap around baby's bottom, so that the straps cross again.
  5. Pull the straps under baby's opposite leg, so it is threaded between you and him.
  6. IllustrationTie straps securely on the opposite side to baby. Alternatively, you can tie the straps under your baby's bottom if this is more comfortable for you.
