Starting tomorrow, Monday 25th May, it’s National Family Week.

It’s the first year of this week long celebration of you and your family, and the aim is to encourage families to play, learn, eat, read, compete and – most importantly – spend quality time together.

With sponsors, schools, community organisations, government bodies, charities, local councils, sports clubs, associations, celebrities and even the Prime Minister behind the week, the only thing missing is your family! Families like yours all across the country can enjoy hundreds of events and competitions, offers and promotions to make National Family Week fantastic fun for the whole family. We have been really busy this month with our fabulous birthday competition (winners to be announced very soon) and with getting ready for another fair – we will be at Houghton tomorrow for the craft fair, and will be on hand to demonstrate SnugBaby slings and some other of our products. It starts at 10am, and entry is free, with all donations being given to Comic Relief, so do come along if you are local to the Carlisle area.

You may have noticed that the sling area of the SnugBaby shop is a little sparse – apologies for this, but I am sure we will be forgiven when you see our amazing new range which will be unveiled in the near future.

Finally, on the family front, we have a new addition to the SnugBaby household. No, not another baby (two is quite enough for me). We have recently taken into our family a gorgeous puppy! She is utterly gorgeous, although making cutting and sewing fabric a little, erm, interesting! I hope you don’t mind me sharing this picture of DS2 with the new pup.

I am having huge problems with my internet connection at the moment, and am down to working using dial-up. If you have ever tried using dial-up for heavy internet usage, you will know it’s no easy task! Downloading emails is taking about ten times as long as my proper broadband, and frankly, it’s driving me mad!

Now, it doesn’t seem that long ago since I was telling the Husband, “What do you want broadband for? This is fine… grumble, grumble”. Oh, how my view can change once I am using the web for something other than moooching on the odd baby website, or sending emails to friends! Even my eldest son was complaining about it today, because CBeebies website was taking too long. On the other hand, if it wasn’t so frustrating, I can appreciate it might be quite liberating. But so far this month, SnugBaby has been so busy that I could really do without forced time off!

A few days ago we announced the winners of the Autumn competition, and they should all now have recieved their prizes. Hopefully there will be some photos to follow. Apologies to those who missed out, but no doubt we will have another fit of generosity soon.

I have to tell you about a fantastic competition, through leading Business Mums website, MumsClub! They are launching a national search for the most creative business idea for a mum. Anyone can enter, whether you already have a business, or just an idea. There are some great prizes on offer, ranging from a fantastic 12 month subcription to The Peter Jones Business Builder, donated by the Dragon’s Den star himself, to dolls, artwork and, of course, a SnugBaby sling. All the prizes have been donated by current members of MumsClub, with the hope of inspiring more women to take the plunge and start their own business. All you need to do is come up with a fabulous business idea,  fill in the application form from the MumsClub website and email it back. Your idea can be anything you like – a new product, a creative new way to market an existing product, or a creative way to get the kids involved in your venture! Basically, anything goes, so long as it is your idea.
