Father and Daughter
June 7th, 2010 by Claire Willis
I’ve said before that I am an utter Daddy’s girl, so for Father’s Day here is a little story about my dad.
When I went off to university, I hadn’t realised but my dad, being the sentimental old thing that he is, had written me a poem. I am not sure he even intended to give it to me (it was on his computer, entitled “Secret”), but he did.
It’s beautiful, and, ever since, I have had it hanging on the wall in my bedroom. I can’t describe how much it means to me, and it brings a tear to my eye every time I read it. Even more so now I have children of my own. My words could never do it justice, so see what you think for yourself.

He is incredibly talented, that is fantastic. Is he published?
You must have been very touched to receive that, written especially for you!

wow.
That is amazing. If I had one I would have it on my bedroom wall too.
In fact I may even steal this one.
he should seriously enter it in a competition- I know of some of you want?

Nicki, Thanks. He has 2 non-fiction books published, but nothing like this. Not sure he’d want to (in fact, I am only hoping he doesn’t mind me putting it on here!)
Sam, I don’t think he would be up for entering a comp – he is a very busy man anyway! Thanks though
