A good day working from home

August 3rd, 2009 by Claire Willis

ben and josh 001I may whinge about the hardships of working from home sometimes (like the fact that people just hear “home” when they ask what you do, and disregard the “work” part; or think it is just a hobby; or the way the evenings soon turn into night, and I am still working), but sometimes the days are just great. Today has been pretty good.

I am sure we made a supplier’s day today, when I rang them just as it started raining. Cue SnugBoy#1 running inside to tell me that my washing was getting wet. As I whispered my reply, trying to remain professional, SnugBoy#1 very kindly offered to get it in and ran around yelling for the washing basket. When Phone Lady burst out laughing, I gave up all pretence of being professional, and took the phone outside, tucked under my chin, while I helped SnugBoy#1. SnugBoy#2 chose this moment to shout at me that he had found a dead slug, and insisted on showing me. He is obsessed by all creatures, and whilst he does favour living ones, dead ones will just have to do sometimes. Bless him.

Still, at least we gave Phone Lady a giggle. I must work on that “professional” thing…
