School Holidays and Sticky George

July 31st, 2009 by Claire Willis

SnugBoy#1 has been on school holidays for two weeks now. We started off having fun, but trying not to squeeze to much in. The SnugBoys were pretty good. SnugBoy#2 is going through a “difficult” phase at the moment, so it is a little tense at the best of times, but overall they are reasonably well-behaved children – as much as you can expect from a 2 year old and a 4 year old, anyway.

So far, things we have done are:

  • baked cakes
  • done lots of walking/bike riding (SnugBoy#2 got his first bike last weekend)
  • Playgroup (thankfully we have a lovely one which still runs in the holidays)
  • the usual playdoh, crafty playing
  • been shopping (which was suprisingly stress-free, and I even got a rare, these days, opportunity to hoik SnugBoy#2 onto my back for a ride in the sling)

SnugBoy#1 is having tennis lessons next week – he seems to think that despite being 4, he is the next Andy Murray, after long Wii tennis sessions with his grandma. Bless him, I think he may be in for a shock!

benandjoshToday we went to Birdoswald Roman Fort site for a picnic, and to have a look around. We had a lovely day and tired the SnugBoys out a little. SnugBoy#2 found a new favourite toy. It is a stick. And he has named it “Sticky George”. I have a feeling Sticky George may be coming on more days out with us every soon!

I would love to hear your suggestions of what else we can do, and where else we can take Sticky George, to fill the remaining 4 rainy weeks of holidays! As much as I love my boys, I am starting to run out of ideas already! Please help a mum in need…

Have you tried the library? We’ve been twice so far during the holidays. Ours has had a magician in, plus an arts & craft morning. Both days were rainy, so it was ideal…. and free!!
